hooded bath towels and hooded beach towels


Bath towels has two utilities : 1. Wipe and absorb water on body after bath 2. Wrap around waist keep warm before put on clothes for man, and women need bigger bath towels to cover breast too.
A bath towels with a hood usually for little ones,we call it hooded towels. Babies, toddlers and kids. For babies hooded towels are usually square shape and with a triangle hood on the corner, size 75cm x75cm or 80cm x 80cm. This type bath towels' materials are preferred natural  , such as 100% cotton, 100% bamboo fiber or cotton/bamboo mixed. Usually, edge processed by binding instead of fold hem or overlock stitches. Fabric for babies hooded towels are terry cloth , seldom apply terry velour fabric. It's color generally plain and light.

Kids hooded towels are different shape, just normal bath towels plus a hood. Kids hooded bath towels generally have two kinds fabric, one is terry, the other is terry velour. Generally, terrycloth is dyed plain color, but terry velour processed by print, usually by reactive print.

Hooded towels for adults are not as popular as for kids and babies.

There is a interesting problem I like to discuss, the edge. The general towel edge is double fold hem, without loops on it. To make the edge soften and beautiful we sometimes will use binding to bound the edge, the binding can be cotton cloth fabric or jersey with different colors usually contrast the towel's own color.
The third edge process is overlock, the overlock stitches prevent edge from fraying.

Most bath towels include hooded bath towels are made of 100% cotton, microfiber towels are not common.

Towels and terry cloth

Terry cloth is a heavy fabric with loops pile on the both sides or just one side of them. Those loops give the towel power of absorption. Towels are  terry cloth, but towels are not made form terry cloth. Towels are formed on the loom of certain size. After dyeing washing etc. processes the towel will be cut along the prepared line, then edges be hemmed. Normal bath towels are almost all oblong with four ends finished in hem.
